Kathmandu – The Nepal Golf Association (NGA) on Monday appointed former Indian professional golfer Tarun Sardesai as head coach of the Nepal National Golf Team.
Head of Instruction at the Tarun Sardesai Golf Academy, Sardesai was appointed the coach for the upcoming 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 6. Likewise, NGA Youth Development Director Deepak Acharya has been given the responsibility to assist Sardesai in the national team.
The Nepali team has already started closed-camp training at the Tarun Sardesai Golf Academy in Bangalore and they will remain at the academy till September 20. The men’s team includes pro-Sukra Bahadur Rai and amateurs Subash Tamang, Sadbhav Acharya, and Yubraj Bhujel.
Moreover, Kashmira Shah and Sushma Sigdel are women golfers on the team. Meanwhile, Sukra, who is currently undergoing training in Dresden, Germany will join the squad in Bangalore next month.
Apart from training, the golfers will also take part in competitive tournaments every week to assess their progress. Nepal No 1 amateur Subash and Sadbhav will take a break from the academy to participate in the Singapore Amateur Open scheduled for July 18-21 at the Orchid Country Club.
