Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Rajendra Tamang has been appointed as the head coach of the Nepal Women’s National Football Team, as announced by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) through social media on Wednesday.
Kiran Rai, the General Secretary of ANFA, presented the appointment letter to Coach Tamang in the presence of executive committee members Sarila Shrestha Malekhu and Pema Dolma Lama. A Division League winner with Three Star Club, former head coach of Nepal APF Club and Manang Marshyangdi Club, Tamang’s assignment will be leading the team in the WAFF Women’s Championship, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia from February 19 to 28.
Nepal have been invited as one of the participating teams in the tournament. Tamang has already called up a preliminary squad of 40 members for a closed camp.
Tamang’s coaching staff includes Kamala Rakhal and Shyam Manandhar as assistant coaches, Ujwal Manandhar as the goalkeeping coach, and Brinda Dewan as the team manager. The WAFF Women’s Championship, organized by the West Asian Football Confederation, will feature teams such as Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Guam. Nepal and Guam have been invited as the two guest teams, with Guam being a member of the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF).
