Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – NIC Asia Bank has honored the Nepali Women’s National Football Team for their outstanding performance in the WAFF Women’s Championship. Each of the 23 players and eight officials received a cash award of Rs. 25,000 at a ceremony held on Monday.
Pankaj Bikram Nemwang, President of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), commended the team for their achievements and stated ANFA sent the team to Saudi Arabia intending to participate in the 2027 and 2031 World Cups.
Head coach Rajendra Tamang highlighted the impact of the women’s team’s success on the men’s team and expressed gratitude for the recognition from NIC Bank. Captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba also appreciated the honor and stated the significance in boosting the team’s morale.
The Nepali team lost to Jordan on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the final in their very first appearance in the tournament.
Santosh Kumar Rathi, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of NIC Asia Bank, attributed the honor to the exceptional success of the women’s team and reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting Nepali athletes.
Additionally, NIC Asia Bank announced Anjana Rana Magar, goalkeeper of both the national team and Tribhuwan Army Club, as its brand promoter for the next year.
