Hongwanji New Diamond Sports Academy finished third in the 3rd Tiger Cup International Invitation Club Volleyball Championship crushing hosts Gandaki Province.
New Diamond crushed hosts Gandaki in a straight set of 3-0 in a third-place match under the women’s event at Pokhara Rangashala. New Diamond restricted Gandaki 25-19, 25-16, and 25-16 to finish third in the championship.
The defeat means Gandaki Province concluded the championship winless. Gandaki played five matches overall (3 league matches, semi-final, and third place) and lost them all. On the other hand, New Diamond won two matches out of five. Both wins came against Gandaki Province.
Along with the victory, New Diamond will purse NRs. 1 Lakh 25 thousand cash prize. Likewise, Gandaki Province will receive Nrs. 65,000.
Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) will take on defending champions Nepal APF Club in the final of the championship on Saturday.
A total of 9 teams including 4 women’s and 5 men’s teams are competing in the third edition of Tiger Cup. Both the champion teams will purse NRs. 5 Lakhs each, while the runners-up will receive NRs. 2.5 Lakhs.
Similarly, the Best Player of each match will be rewarded with five thousand and a health checkup facility equivalent to three thousand rupees. The best player in both events will receive NRs. 25,000 and the best in each category will get NRs. 10,000.
