Kathmandu (Hamro Khelkud) – Nepal Men’s Cricket Team jersey to be used during the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup has been unveiled. The jersey was unveiled amid a program held in Kathmandu by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Monday.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha along with the Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, Tanka Lal Ghising, jointly unveiled the jersey during the program. CAN vice-president Roshan Singh, secretary Paras Khadka and Kelme Nepal’s managing director Uttam Neupane were also present at the event.
The new jersey, designed by CAN’s kit partners Kelme, contains a distinctive iteration compared to the ones used in the past. The jersey features symbols of national pride, Mount Everest and a one-horned rhino, alongside the national flag adorning the shoulders.
A diversion from the traditional color scheme, this version incorporates yellow and the customary red and blue hues. Kelme Nepal MD Neupane highlighted the addition of the yellow color and mentioned that the colour signifies a warrior.
Minister Shrestha shared his feeling of pride in revealing the jersey for the World Cup, while Member Secretary Ghising highlighted the significance it will bear in Nepali cricket history.
The jersey will first be worn during the home series against the West Indies ‘A’ before the World Cup. The matches between Nepal and West Indies ‘A’ have also been confirmed following the jersey unveiling event.
The T20 World Cup is being held in the West Indies and the USA in June. Nepal are in Group D of the 20-team World Cup. Nepal will be pitted against South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. Nepal will take on the Netherlands on June 4 to kick off their campaign.
