Huanzhou (HamroKhelkud) – Nepal Men’s National Cricket Team are set to take on India in the 19th Asian Games Men’s Cricket quarterfinal. Nepal’s opposition for the quarterfinals were finalized after a draw made on Monday morning.
Captain Rohit Paudel drew India in the draw. The format of cricket at the Asian Games had India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan already in the quarterfinals, while teams ranked below them had to go through the group stages.
Nepal defeated Maldives by 138 runs and Mongolia by 273 runs in the group stage. The match between Nepal and India will be played on Tuesday.
The match against India will be a T20 International. But India have sent a second-fiddle side due to the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The World Cup is kicking off in three days. But the Indian team is full of IPL quality. Captained by Indian international Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has made a mark with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, the team includes the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh and so on.
The other three quarterfinals will see Pakistan take on Hong Kong, Sri Lanka take on Afghanisthan and Bangladesh will take on Malaysia.
