Lalitpur – On the opening day of the Second Krishna Bhattarai Memorial Karate Championship, Nepal Police Club (NPC) dominated by winning three gold medals.
Five events took place during the opening day, with NPC and Armed Police Force (APF) Club claiming three and two gold medals respectively at the Karate Academy Hall in Satdobato.
NPC won gold in the Women’s Individual Kata, Women’s Team Kata, and Women’s Kumite 45-kg weight category. Chanchala Danuwar of the NPC claimed the gold in the Women’s Individual Kata, and the NPC team, including Danuwar, won the gold in the Women’s Team Kata. Furthermore, NPC’s Pushpaka Lama emerged victorious by defeating Tribhuvan Army Club’s Mamata Maharjan 4-1 in the Women’s Kumite 45-kg weight category.
In the Women’s Individual Kata, Alisha Raskoti Magar of Karnali Province won the silver medal, while Mira Khati of Bagmati Province and Reshma Rai of Province 1 claimed joint bronze.
In the Men’s Individual Kata, Sonim Manandhar of APF Club came in the first place, and the APF team including Manandhar claimed victory in the Men’s Team Kata. NPC’s Mahasus Moktan won silver, and Rohan Javed of Bagmati and Binaya Limbu of TAC claimed joint bronze in the Men’s Individual Kata.
The second edition of the Krishna Bhattarai Memorial Karate Championship is being held under the organization of Godawari Municipality, with ten teams competing, including seven provinces and three departmental teams. The martial artists will feature in 17 events in total.
The winning team will be awarded NRs. 1 Lakh, a trophy, and medals, while the runners-up will receive NRs. 50 thousand.
