ICC approves Nepal T20 League

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given its approval to conduct the Nepal T20 League which is going to be organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). In a press release, CAN acting secretary Prashant Bikram Malla stated that the ICC has given its approval to conduct Nepal T20 League. CAN added that the Nepal T20 League will be beneficial to domestic cricket.

The Nepal T20 League which will be held on the basis of double round robin is scheduled to start from September 24 to October 22 (Ashoj 8 to Kartik 5) in Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium. The names of 6 participating teams has been revealed. Biratnagar, Janakpur, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Far Western and one among Lumbini or Bhairahawa will participate in the first edition.

Players will be divided into three categories (A,B and C). A grade player will receive a minimum pay of Rs. 1.5 million. Similarly, B grade players will purse Rs. 1 million minimum and C grade players will get a minimum of Rs. 500,000. Indian company Seven Three Sports has been the strategic and commercial partner of Nepal T20 League as CAN has sold Nepal T20 League rights to Seven Three Sports for Rs. 330 million for the time period of 8 years.
