Hosts Gandaki Province stunned reigning champions Tribhuvan Club in a straight set to meet Nepal APF Club in the finale of the 3rd Tiger Cup International Invitation Club Volleyball Championship.
Gandaki, who fought hard to register a 25-23 victory in the first and second sets, won the third set comfortably by 25-16.
Gandaki now needs to defeat Nepal APF Club in order to defend the title. Earlier, in the first match under the men’s event APF hammered their departmental rivals Nepal Police Club (NPC) in a straight set of 3-0.
NPC posted 10, 21, and 18 past APF in the three sets. NPC won the only match against Sri Lankan side St. Joseph Watch Sports Club.
TAC and NPC will now compete in the third-place match on Saturday. Likewise, in the women’s event, defending champions APF will take on TAC in the finals on Saturday. Hongwanji New Diamond Sports Academy finished third crushing hosts Gandaki Province in a straight set.
A total of 9 teams including 4 women’s and 5 men’s teams are competing in the third edition of Tiger Cup. Both the champion teams will purse NRs. 5 Lakhs each, while the runners-up will receive NRs. 2.5 Lakhs.
Similarly, the Best Player of each match will be rewarded with five thousand and a health checkup facility equivalent to three thousand rupees. The best player in both events will receive NRs. 25,000 and the best in each category will get NRs. 10,000.
