Nepal wins team event gold medal

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Nepal won the team event gold medal of the 9th Nepal Amateur Open at the par-72 Gokarna Forest Golf Resort on Monday. The Nepali team of Subash Tamang and Sadbhav Acharya carded 17-under 271 in the 36-hole competition to register a 14-stroke victory over India. Nepal No 1 Subash carded four-under 68 in the second round and Sadbhav carded a bogey-free three-under 69 for the second-day score of seven-under 137. They had carded 10-under 134 in the first round. Subash and Sadbhav won the team event gold medal in Bangladesh Amateur Open Golf Championship in March. India's Sumit Kotwal and Suraj Joshi came second with a total score of three under 285. Subash carded six-under 66 for a two-stroke lead over fellow national team member Sadbhav Acharya and Sumit Kotwal of India. The event will be played over 72 holes from 17th April and conclude on 20th April.
