APF, NRT share spoils in six-goal thriller

Kathmandu – APF Football Club and New Road Team (NRT) shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller during the Qatar Airways Martyrs Memorial A Division League match on Friday. The two teams played a 3-3 draw in the first match of the sixth round.

Ashish Lama, Captain Navin Lama and Dipesh Dhimal were on target for APF. Similarly, Darshan Gurung scored two goals for NRT while Mesuke Olumoi added another goal for the club.

Darshan Gurung gave NRT the lead by scoring in the 32nd minute. An unmarked Gurung scored a free header in a cross from Mesuke. However, Ashish Lama scored an equalizer five minutes later in pass from Pradeep Lama.

After the break, Gurung added another goal for NRT to give a 2-1 lead. APF goalkeeper did not stand a chance to stop a goal-bound ball shot by Gurung in a pass from Ranjan Bista. Mesuke scored the third goal for NRT in the 61st minute to make the score 3-1. NRT were able to widen the margin after APF goalkeeper failed to clear a shot from Mesuke.

APF were back in contention four minutes later when Dipesh Dhimal scored the club’s second goal in the 65th minute in a free kick from captain Navin Lama. APF were awarded the free kick after Bikram Dhimal fouled Ashish Lama. Navin Lama scored another goal for APF in the 69th minute to make it 3-3. He utilized a cross from Ashish Lama to slot home the equalizer.

Following the draw, NRT are sixth with 7 points while APF are languishing in the 11th position with 5 points.

In another match, Nepal Police Club and Friends Club played a goalless draw.  Both teams had lost their respective matches in the fifth round by an identical score of 3-0.

Police are eight in the points table while Friends Club remain on the rock bottom.
