The second meeting of the All Nepal Football Association – ANFA’s newly elected executive meeting which got postponed on Monday is rescheduled for Thursday. ANFA informed that the meeting will commence from 7:00 am on Thursday through its website.
After ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang got admitted to Mediciti Hospital on Monday due to poor health, the meeting scheduled for the same day was postponed. Nembang was discharged at 9:00 pm on Monday itself.
17 agendas including the appointment of Deputy Secretary General, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Spokesperson have already been fixed for the ANFA meeting.
Earlier, General Secretary Kiran Rai sent 12 agendas to Executive Committee Members via email on July 8. Later, Vice President Deepak Khatiwada and Dirga Bahadur (Kumar) KC demanded to add 5 more.
The only agenda that Khatiwada demanded was to add the topic regarding the appointment of CEO and spokesperson. Meanwhile, KC requested to include the agendas regarding the conduction of the second round of National Women’s League that is halted at the moment and to conduct a Special General Meeting of ANFA at the earliest.
ANFA Vice President Khatiwada said that he is set to propose the names of two individuals for the position of CEO and Spokesperson. He is likely to suggest appointing Gaurav Thapa as the CEO and Suresh Shah as the spokesperson. Thapa is a former employee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) whereas Shah is a former central member of ANFA. However, a representative of ANFA said that they are preparing to appoint Thapa as Deputy General Secretary instead of CEO. He said that ‘As it is a long process to appoint the CEO, preparations are on its way to appoint Gaurav Thapa as the Deputy General Secretary.’
Gaurav is the son of former ANFA President Ganesh Thapa who has been penalized by FIFA with a 10-years ban which restricts him to get involved in any sort of footballing activities. Under the pressure of former ANFA President Thapa, preparations are being made to allow Gaurav to step into ANFA.
It is learned that prior to the election, the agreement was already made to appoint Arun Man Joshi and Basanta Aryal as Deputy General Secretary . The leadership is also facing continuous pressure to appoint Damodar (Badri Bhattrai) as the Deputy General Secretary of ANFA, informed by one of the ANFA members. Bhattrai was a member of the election committee of ANFA formed to conduct the ANFA election. There is a provision that the ANFA Executive Committee can appoint 3 deputy general secretaries.
